Panaji: Goa government on Friday has directed all its departments, public sector undertakings and autonomous bodies to implement reservation for economically weaker section in further employment or admissions in educational institutes.
Last week, State Cabinet had approved ten per cent reservation for economically weaker section in education and government employment. The cabinet resolution was a part of central government’s decision to introduce special reservation for the economically weaker section of society.
In a office memorandum sent to all the departments, public sector undertakings and autonomous bodies, State Director of Social Welfare Parag Nagarcekar has said that it is enjoined upon all the concerned departments or educational instutitions to give appropriate effect to the office memorandum which has made it mandatory to have ten per cent reservation for economically weaker section.
The government run bodies are adviced to modify the existing parameters in respect of reservation for the economically weaker section in accordance with the provision mentioned in the office memorandum.
