Panaji: Former Goa RSS Chief Subhash Velingkar on Wednesday said that his political outfit – Goa Suraksha Manch – will support candidature of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister, though they will field candidate against BJP in the State for Lok Sabha election.
“We are fielding our candidates in both the Lok Sabha Constituencies of Goa. We are hoping to win the elections and once we have our Members of Parliament, both the MPs will support Modi as PM,” said Velingkar.
He, however, said that his party will not support BJP candidates in Goa. “We are with the BJP at the national level. But as far as Goa is concerned, we are not with them, as local leadership has miserably failed to take up issues in the centre,” he said.
Both the Lok Sabha Seats from Goa is currently represented by BJP MPs – Shripad Naik (North Goa) and Narendra Sawaikar (South Goa).
Responding to a question, Velingkar said that GSM is not a part of National Democratic Alliance, but would render outside support to Modi.
He said that the current Goa MPs including Vinay Tendulkar of Rajya Sabha (BJP) have failed to solve issues like problem faced by people dependent on mining industry.
“These MPs have no voice in Delhi. They have miserably failed even to get proper appointment with PM to discuss mining issue,” he said.
Velingkar said that GSM will field credible candidates for Lok Sabha, whose names would be announced in next couple of days.
GSM which had fought 2017 Goa Legislative Assembly election in alliance with Shiv Sena and MGP, said that they have parted ways with MGP, while they are still waiting to discuss pre-poll alliance with Uddhav Thackrey led party.
