Margao: This could be a sign of what is in store for future. After announcing to field their candidates against BJP government’s official candidates in by-election, MGP leader Sudin Dhavalikar had Congress tone in his speech in Margao.

While praising former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, Dhavalikar took pot shot at Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai over Opinion Poll Day.

While the function was related to the developmental work, Dhavalikar changed his track during the speech to explain that Liberation Day is bigger than Opinion Poll Day.

His indirect reference was to the speech by Sardesai in which he had said that the Opinion Poll Day should be given the importance.

“If Goa was not Liberated from where  the Opinion Poll would have come? Opinion poll came only because of the Liberation,” he said.

He pointed out that maximum votes were polled from Salcette during Opinion Poll.

“I was MGP supporter but that time we were against the merger and wanted to preserve Goa’s identity,” he said pointing out that MGP came to power even after the Opinion Poll.

“I don’t want to criticize anyone but we should keep in mind that if there was no liberation then opinion poll would not have come,” he said.

Dhavalikar suggested that the main garden of Margao be named after Dr Jack Sequeira.

The minister showered praises on former CM Digambar Kamat in his speech.
