Porvorim: With the NDA showing its unity during the voting for the post of Speaker, Congress’ remote dream of forming the government seems to have come down crashing.

Panaji MLA Babush Monserratte during his election campaign had assured to form the government as soon as he gets elected. Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar too had said that they are in talks with some parties to form the alternate government.

The loyalty shown by Goa Forward Party under the leadership of its Chief Vijai Sardesai was a dampener for Congress party’s dreams. Sardesai on Monday had admitted that he was approached to form the government.

Sardesai has stuck to his commitment. He was one of the proposer of Rajesh Patnekar for the post of Speaker on the floor of the House.

Other Independents too including Rohan Khaunte, Govind Gawade and Prasad Gaonkar have remained firm with the government leaving no chance for Congress to make any move to topple the existing government.
