BJP alliance partners to meet Gadkari tonight

Panaji: The alliance partners of Goa government will meet BJP leader Nitin Gadkari later in the night to discuss about the leadership issue, which was arised after the demise of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Gadkari is expected to arrive in the midnight in the coastal state.

Parrikar, 63, died on Sunday after fighting back pancreatic ailment for over a year.

Goa Forward Party’s all the three MLAs led by State Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardesai, MGP’s three MLAs headed by State Transport Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, BJP’s State Organisational General Secretary Satish Dhond, MLA Michael Lobo, Vishwajit Rane, Independent MLA and State Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte, State Art and Culture Minister Govind Gawade participated in the meeting.

Dhavalikar said that all the alliance partners will meet Gadkari when he arrives in the State.

When asked about leadership, he said that nothing has been decided. “Nothing will be decided now. We will meet Gadkari and then decide about the things,” he said.

GFP leader Vijai Sardesai said that the decision about the next leader would be taken after all the coalition partners meet.

He said that “everyone wants this government to survive, no one wants dissolution or suspended animation.”

Sardesai said that there has been a suggestion to make one of the non-MLA, next Goa Chief Minister, which is also being considered.

When asked whether coalition partners will continue their support, Sardesai said “no one should be taken for granted.”
