Angie Mendes, aged 40 years, residing in the beautiful village of Chinchinim , situated in Salcete, South Goa.

Having completed my formal education in B.Sc (Microbiology) and MA

(English) with B.Ed. I am a full-time school teacher and a mother of 2 beautiful children. Even though I have no formal education in art, art has always captured my imagination and fascinated my soul. I enjoy teaching.

However there was this constant thought at the back of my mind that there was something lacking.

I began mine when I set on a pursuit to connect with my inner creativity.

Over the years, I have given Educative and motivational talks on Good touch, Bad touch, in collaboration with Kare College of Law, at RMHS, Assolna and Save the girl child awareness presentation given to the local community at Deussua- Chinchinim. I have also tried my hand at painting wall murals, acrylic on canvas, oil on canvas and mosaics. My paintings have been part of the group exhibition held at The Black Box, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao in December 2016. I also received the Creative teacher Award in 2015, by Creative Art Education, for encouraging students in the field of Art. However what fascinated me the most was Mosaics. I stumbled upon the art of mosaics 6 years ago at a workshop and since then there has been no looking back. Having no formal training in art, I self-taught myself about the various techniques, materials and factors to be kept in mind during installation. Juggling work, home and personal choices was not easy.

It was not impossible either. I decided to follow my heart and open myself through mosaics to the world around me. Initially, no one took me seriously but that did not deter me from chasing my dream. Today, I have my own work space, and a small gallery to display my mosaics. Most of my work is guided by my inner feelings and my curiosity fuelled me to experiment with new materials and techniques to showcase to the world.

The art of creating mosaics (to me) was something between painting & architectural sculpture. Simply awesome!

Recently my creations were selected and displayed at ARTJUNA Art Exhibition (in February 2018) among 40 other artists from all around the world. I have also been a part of the Sosas Fashion Event (November 2017 held at the Community Centre Panjim.
